Dear Sunset Valley Elementary Community,

As we begin the week of March 3, 2025, here are some key updates:

TELPAS Testing

Our Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) testing is underway, assessing our Emergent Bilingual students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The testing window runs from February 17 to March 28. If you have questions, please contact our administration.

Black History Month Musical Program

Our 3rd and 4th-grade students, guided by music teacher Ms. Leatherberry, delivered a vibrant tribute to Black historical figures through culture, music, and art. Thank you to all who attended and supported this celebration.

End of Third Nine Weeks

As we approach the end of our third nine weeks, teachers are finalizing grades. We appreciate your support in keeping students focused during this period.

Garden Day Appreciation

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent Garden Day. Your volunteer spirit has beautified our school grounds for the spring season. It truly takes a village, and we are grateful for your support.

Upcoming Events

• Coffee with the Principal: Join me on Thursday, March 6, at 7:45 AM in the PLC room for an informal discussion on staffing updates for the 2025-2026 school year and other topics.

• Campus Advisory Council (CAC) Meeting: Our next CAC meeting is on Thursday, March 6, at 3:30 PM in the library. We will discuss upcoming projects, including the installation of our new security vestibule over the summer to enhance school safety.
